TRAM 7

1
There are two trams that I use most of the time to move somewhere in Leipzig. Well.. there are two main reasons to take this tram. Firstly, I travel to Berlin pretty often, so in this case, I go back and forth this way: Hauptbahnhof(the central station to go to other cities)–Reudnitz, Koehlerstraße(the nearest station to my home). Secondly, when I go to the uni, I go back and forth this way: Augusplatz(the station around the city center)–Reudnitz, Koehlerstraße. Sometimes I go to the west of Leipzig to go to a bar, an exhibition, or friends’ places. Once I did uni-sports, which never happened more than 3 times. For that, I also took tram 7. In short, tram 7 goes where I want to go. It’s very practical and anyway 7 is one of my favorite numbers. (The other one is 3).

2
When I’m waiting for the tram at the nearest station to my home, I’m used to standing right next to the station’s signage. Somehow I feel safe here because there are some people near the station who might be aggressive sometimes. I feel like I'm hiding by this signage, but maybe this strategy is not working for actual hiding. It serves more for blocking my eyes.

3
To get on the tram, I have to go through the road. It was very embarrassing at first.. Ah, actually I haven’t used the tram itself that often before I moved to Leipzig. (In the past, I lived in 4 different cities, and there was no city where the tram was the main public transportation.) Yes anyhow, I got to know other drivers stop when there’s a tram at the station.

4
The tram has different sizes of seats. I would say there are two units. One is the main size, which is 1. The other one is 1.5. There are seats with 1.1 or 1.1.1. mixed. But 1.5 is not mixed with other sizes. 1.5 is just 1.5. I like 1.5, because I can seat on my own but still can have more room for my bag.

5
The pattern of the seat is quite geometric but also organic. The harmony of the halftone effect and texture is quite impressive.

6
The upper part of the window is designed to open. I have to get up if I want to open the window. (If you have long arms, maybe you can do it while you’re sitting.) However, I never tried to open or close the window! I'm a pretty passive passenger.

7
When I look up, I can see a line of lights. It looks like sausages in a row. If you want me to describe it in more detail, I need to talk about “Vienna sausage” in Korea. In Korea, you can easily buy a sausage product that is a long row of small and short sausages(each sausage is the size of a thumb). I have no idea where this sausage comes from and why the name includes the city “Vienna”. Anyway, I tried to find a similar sausage in German, but I couldn’t find it. I would just call it Kurzwurst..

I don’t feel that comfortable when I see stickers like this. Because.. the stroke of the shape is not even and it’s completely unrefined. Oh.. we need just a few minutes to fix this.. but it could be a big deal for the executor in Leipziger(LVB) or the government. I found the same problem with the line graphic of Brandenburger Tor in the window of the Berlin U-bahn.

9
There are several info stickers. Especially, I like the yellow bold numbers. Also, You can find stickers from creative passengers. Sometimes, there are stickers that I don’t know if they’re attached by passengers or if they’re important system signs for trams.

10
The edge of the stairs is made of yellow tape. There is a flat entrance as well as an entrance with stairs. I think you already know that this whole chariot has an identity color: yellow and blue are the identity colours of “Leipzig”. It is interesting to think about the colour of the city. For example, if I think about the color of Berlin, it's red. The thing is that I can associate these colors bcause of public transportation. This concept is quite interesting.

11
There are some buttons that I can press and not.

12
I just checked the ceiling and the floor. Both are well matched with yellow and blue. What I’m particularly curious about is whether the CCTV works or not.

13
The train walks on this rail. It is always impressive that these simple routes are built on a system where many trams can go their own way without collisions. But when you ride a bicycle, it is very dangerous because the bicycle tires easily get caught in the gap between the rails.

+ I had to update this page again. One day, I got a tip-off from a person: there’s another seat in the train of different sizes. Voilà! It is 1.7! I directly checked it and sat on the 1.7 seats. I thank you for letting me know the “truth” and for your interest in what I’ve said.
